Thank you and welcome to the Elizabeth River Republican Women’s Club website
You could call us the “little club that could”. In the last election, our Club logged over 3,000 campaign hours! From phone banking to walking neighborhoods to talking up our Republican candidates at the polls…we did it all. What I am most proud of is that every club member contributed in her own way.
In order to support our Republican elected officials and candidates, we sponsor an annual Star Spangled Evening (mark your calendar for April 2, 2011 at 7 p.m.!) This event features over 120 silent auction items with 15 fabulous live auction items (like the use of a time share in California for a week, a cocktail party for 40, weekend getaways, etc., etc., etc.) Some of our very favorite Republicans are guest auctioneers. The evening also includes heavy hor d’oeuvres and adult beverages. It's fun, fun, fun!
As compassionate conservatives, we also serve our community. We raise money for the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia, Southern Vines of the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, the HER Shelter for women and children victimized by domestic abuse, the Chesapeake and Portsmouth Humane Societies, Wreaths Across America Project through the Albert Horton, Jr. Memorial Cemetery, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the Joy Fund and Union Mission. We also collected and recycled gently used paperback books and magazine for the Tidewater Juvenile Detention Center, a local assisted living center and the HER shelter as part of the Mamie Eisenhower/ Barbara Bush Literacy Project.
New members cannot believe how busy we are….but they quickly find their niche in the Club.
